A homeowner decides their block has gotten less quiet. They pull out their phone and type "security camera installation near me." Ninety seconds later they have called somebody. The only question that matters is whether it was you.

That moment is where most of your future monitoring contracts are won or lost. Here is how to make sure it lands on your phone more often.

Start with your Google Business Profile, not your website

For local searches like this one, the map pack outranks everything. Those three businesses under the map get the majority of the calls, and the map pack is driven almost entirely by your Google Business Profile, not your website.

Check the basics that dealers most often get wrong:

  • Every service you sell listed as a service, with a short description. Not just "security systems."
  • Real photos of your trucks, your techs, and your installs. Stock photos signal a business nobody has visited.
  • A steady stream of reviews. Two a month beats twelve in one burst, and every review should get a reply.
  • Your service area set honestly. Covering forty cities you never work in hurts you more than it helps.

Then give each service its own page

One page listing everything you do ranks for nothing specific. Google matches a search to a page about that thing, so each service needs its own page: alarm installation, security cameras, smart home integration, monitoring, access control, whatever you actually sell.

The same goes for cities. If you work in five towns, you need five pages that say something real about working in each one. Not copy-paste with the city name swapped, which Google catches and ignores. Different routes, different building stock, different HOA rules, different response times. Write what you know about each place.

The 80/20: profile, service pages, city pages, reviews. Those four items put most dealers ahead of most of their local competitors, and none of them require an agency retainer to start.

Speed matters more than design

Half of the people who land on your site are on a phone, often standing in a parking lot comparing three tabs. If your site takes six seconds to load, two of those tabs are gone. Get under three seconds, make the phone number tap-to-call at the top, and put your booking or contact form above the fold.

Track what actually books jobs

Rankings and traffic are not results. Calls, form fills, and booked appointments are. Every lead source should be tagged so you know which page and which search produced it, and every inbound lead should get an instant text response even when your techs are up a ladder.

That last one matters more than any ranking. A lead answered in five minutes converts several times better than one answered the next morning. The dealers who grow fastest are rarely the ones who rank highest; they are the ones who call back first.
